Bass Trombonist, Composer, Arranger

Other highlights as an arranger are a commissioned medley of Puccini arias for Doc Severinsen and the UCLA brass ensemble and a performance of his Mahler 2 finale at the International Trombone Festival 2017 in Redlands, California.This arrangement was originally for the University of Michigan trombone choir, but was performed by the Cramer choir trombone ensemble in Redlands and had organ specially added for this event.He has many arrangements and transcriptions for trombone ensemble and small brass ensembles. For orchestra, Mr. Van Hoy was commissioned by the New Mexico Symphony to create an arrangement of 'Shenandoah' for baritone voice and chamber orchestra as well as a version of 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' for children's choir and full orchestra.He also created an orchestral show for his folk band Edith Makes a Paperchain.

One original composition is published by Art of Sound Music: ‘Chaconne and Funky Fugue’ for euphonium and tuba duet.Mr. Van Hoy’s largest arranging project is a 1 hour highlights from Wagner’s ring cycle for large brass ensemble with percussion.  he is published by Denver brass, Art of Sound Music, Cherry Classics and Imbrassworks. His latest publication is an arrangement of Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder for string quartet, celesta and soloist (low brass or vocal).

Jeremy Van Hoy has been a professional arranger for thirty years, starting in 1996 when he joined the Denver Brass. He has since created over 90 arrangements and transcriptions for this symphonic brass ensemble.  the typical instrumentation is 4.2.3.0.2 plus percussion with euphonium doubling in a trombone part.

Mr. Van Hoy has also been arranging for wind ensemble since 2008, when he became the director of concert band at Colorado College.He has since created over 30 arrangements for concert band/wind ensemble.
